What Is Bwiti?

Bwiti is not a doctrine, a belief system, or a philosophy. It is a lived tradition grounded in direct experience, moral responsibility, and initiation.
Emerging from Central Africa and preserved in Gabon across generations, Bwiti is both a spiritual path and a disciplined framework for understanding existence — the visible and the invisible, the individual and the collective, the body and the soul.
Its knowledge is not abstract. It is practiced.
Its authority is not theoretical. It is transmitted.

An Indivisible Relationship
You can’t have Iboga without Bwiti, and you can’t have Bwiti without Iboga
Within the tradition, Iboga is not treated as a substance. It is approached as a teacher within a precise ceremonial, ethical, and cosmological structure.
Bwiti provides:
- Ritual containment
- Moral orientation
- Interpretive framework
- Communal integration
Outside of this framework, Iboga loses its meaning and coherence. Within it, Iboga becomes a vehicle for clarity, responsibility, and transformation.
