Iboga Facilitator Training

2 Months

Two months in the village for Level 1, one principle: before you guide anyone, you are your first patient.

Why Does Iboga Facilitation Require Training?

Because initiation opens your eyes. It does not teach you to guide someone else. A guide is a bridge, and a bridge has to be built.

Iboga is known across the world now, and more and more people offer ceremonies after one experience of their own. Let’s say you took Iboga once and it changed your life. Good. That makes you someone who saw something, not a guide.

Holding a ceremony means carrying another person through a long night: body, mind and soul. This is not a game. It is learned slowly, under the eyes of the elders, inside the tradition, not from a book.

Level 1

Foundations and Ceremony Guidance

  • How Bwiti sees life, nature and the human being
  • Honesty, first with yourself
  • How a ceremony is built, and who does what
  • Guiding a ceremony, next to experienced nganga and musicians
  • Care for the participant, without mothering
  • What may be passed on, and what may not
  • Your own discipline: you are your first patient

Level 1 is the ground and the practice. Where this work comes from and why a real medicine has a history. Where you stand as a facilitator, where your limits are and what you answer for. How a ceremony is prepared, opened, held and closed. Then you hold it yourself, next to experienced nganga and musicians, and you care for participants before, during and after the night.

Level 2

Detox, a Training of Its Own

  • Why Iboga is known as the strongest ally against addiction
  • Medical screening and supervision, before, during and after
  • Preparing and accompanying a person in detox, step by step
  • Knowing your limits, and working with the medical team

Level 2 is a separate training: two more months, dedicated to detox.

Iboga is known across the world for what it does against addiction. Many see it as the most powerful detox there is. That power is exactly why it is never done lightly. A detox with Iboga is serious medical work: full screening, medical supervision throughout, close follow-up, and a long accompaniment after the ceremony.

Guiding an initiation and guiding a detox are two different jobs. The second one has its own training.

Who Can Apply?

No prior initiation is required.

What we ask is simple, and it is harder: the will to be honest with yourself, and the desire to become the best version of yourself. Yes or no. Not maybe.

Every applicant goes through the same four steps as initiation:

  1. Written application
  2. Pre-interview
  3. Medical review: your full medical history and a recent ECG
  4. Our answer: a clear yes or no

We also want to know why you want this work and how you will carry it. Is that a reason, or an excuse? Request a pre-interview.

Why Two Months?

Time is part of the teaching.

Recognition comes from the elders who watched you work, not from an outside diploma.

There are no lectures here. The jungle is the university. You learn by doing, by watching and by living in the village day after day, across many ceremonies and many conversations.

This is not a certificate to hang on a wall. It is a commitment to a lineage, and to the people who will one day trust you with their night.

And after Level 2? There are more levels. They are not for sale and they are not on a calendar. The elders open them to those who have earned them.
